CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central High School has hired Sam Young as their new boys’ basketball coach following Mike Brown stepping down from the position.

“I am super excited to be given the opportunity to be the head boys’ basketball coach at Montgomery Central, which is my alma mater,” Young said. “I am ready to work as hard as possible to see the program and our future Indians be at the highest level. Let’s work!”

Young most recently served as the boys’ basketball coach at Northeast High School before stepping down from the position in April of 2023. He coached the Eagles from 2019 to 2023, where he compiled a record of 60-49, including a district record of 28-15 and two district championships.

During this past season, Young served as an assistant coach under Brown and will now get a chance to lead his alma mater into the future.

Young also coached girls’ basketball at Houston County from 2008 to 2016, as well as Creek Wood High girls’ basketball in 2017, where he had a dominating record of 261-85 between the two schools.
